An exciting conclusion to this trilogy

My rating is 4.5 stars

The cryptic warning read “Orbit to Sage: Pharaoh provoked ten plagues. We’ll defeat you with two. Find a Red Sea or brace yourself for Firstborn.”

I’ve been excited to read the conclusion to The Rogues trilogy. This dystopian adventure has been quite the ride!

Portia is quite the heroine. Thrust into terrifying situations, she holds tightly to her mission and perseveres. I love her loyalty to her friends and family, especially after she discovers that her brother had lied to her. Of course, this doesn’t mean she listens to his instructions – so what if he is the leader of their band of rogues. . .

I really enjoyed the ending of the set and appreciated that some of the details were left to the imagination as to how they worked out. There were hints as to what might have happened, yet they remained just that – hints.

The one thing that I disliked was the fact that this was written in present tense. While the chapters told by Portia actually worked well, being told in the first person, those about Luther and Gath were not first person and a little awkward. Don’t let this stop you, though. It was worth putting up with that choice the author made.
