In Turn and Burn (a reference to barrel racing) our heroine Tanna Barker is a three time world champion barrel racer, at least she was until an accident put her out of commision. What good is a barrel racer who can't get on a horse?
August Fletcher is one of the local big animal veterinarian's he has spent years building his practice and devoting all his waking hours to it. When he meets Tanna at a bar and they engage in a one night stand he doesn't understand why it upset him so much that she was gone in the morning. When he goes out to the Split Rock during branding a short while later he knows he can't let her run again.
