"I do what I want, when I want. And I don’t give a shit what people think about me."
Allie has just broken up with her boyfriend (A-freaking-men!) and she needs to be around people so she won't go back to her ex. Who's forced to stay with Allie? DEAN! Allie wants nothing more to do with Dean after that night but she can't help but feel that pull towards him and she obviously stops resisting. I mean, it's Dean we are talking about here.
"[...] See, if you take away my dick privileges, I'll be fine for months. Years, even. But if I take away your pussy privileges? You'll be utterly lost. Like a drowning man at sea, desperately grabbing for the vagina preserver. Therefore, vagina trumps penis."
Dean was the one with all the jokes and sexy lines, used to getting his way whereas Allie is feisty and doesn't take Dean's bullsh*t. You go, girl! You combine these characters and their banter will be hilarious. After the sexual tension is out of the way and the real romance starts, you can't help but ship these two. Dean turns a new leaf (as much as Dean would do) and we start to see this romantic side he has never shown before. Your insides will melt and you will be rooting for him to get his happy ending with Allie. Their romance was slow to build and realistic in my opinion. They didn't have sex and thought "gosh I'm in love". Not at all. They got to know one another, hang out and after a lot of hanging out did they really start feeling something and then coming to terms with their real, deep feelings.
"I am doing what I want. I’m making you happy."
Not only is romance a focus in this story, there's also lots of talk friendship and being loyal. We have the guys from the hockey team and they are more than just a team—they are a family. I'm being cheesy, I know but it's the truth. They treat each other as if they were brothers and they are/will be there for one another, which is shown in all three books of this series.
This book stays true to real life. We have Allie struggling on what she's going to do after she graduates and a lot of us go through that (I'm going through it and it sucks). When you have a tight group of friends, the questions of "will we keep contact", "will we stay friends", "will we meet up" once they graduate are very normal and the reader can see how tight and how much a family they truly are.
If you loved the previous books in this series, prepare to love and adore this book and prepare to laugh and grin like an idiot because let's face it. It's Elle Kennedy and she's a master at making her readers laugh. This review was originally posted on Latte Nights Reviews
