I really wanted to love this book but I just couldn't get into the book! Maybe it was getting over the overall theme (Angels vs. Demons), but I'm not sure. I love reading enemies to lovers' books but I think Coriel and Zagan's love was a little underdeveloped and too insta-love for me. It seemed more like infatuation on Zagan's part and settling on Coriel's. I just didn't see why they were so fascinated by each other. To be frank, it feels like he likes the idea of being with an angel and not so much being with Coriel and vice versa.

I also do not like how Coriel went from a badass to a weak pushover and then magically became a badass again? It felt unearned honestly. She didn't really do anything to earn back her wings and it makes it seem like Zagan likes her better now that she is not a forsaken anymore, which further proves my point above.

The story was a good pace and I felt like it was easy to understand and get invested in the characters. However, I do think that some of the action scenes, and the conclusion seemed a little rushed. I actually found myself saying "wow that was it?". All in all, I do think it was in between "I like it" and "it was ok".

Will I re-read it? probably not. However, I don't think this review should discourage you from reading it. It's definitely a creative wild-ride and if you are a fan of the genre you will probably enjoy this book!
