The Dark Discovery Of Jack Dandy by Kady Cross

The Dark Discovery Of Jack Dandy (The Steampunk Chronicles)

by Kady Cross

Before he makes his appearance in The Girl with the Iron Touch, Jack Dandy had an adventure of his very own. Learn how his actions set the plot in motion in The Dark Discovery of Jack Dandy, a short teaser story from author Kady Cross's Steampunk Chronicles.

Jack Dandy didn't become prince of the London underworld at barely twenty-one by being softhearted, even if a certain girl in a steel corset has wormed her way into his affections of late. He knows how to manipulate, charm and rob people blind. And if his criminal activities embarrass his aristocratic father, so much the better.

So when a friend of Jack's father hires him for an underhanded job, Jack is happy to oblige-for an outrageous fee, of course. Delivering a mysterious crate seems like an easy task-until Jack realizes just what is inside...

Don't miss the conclusion to Jack's escapade in The Girl with the Iron Touch by Kady Cross, available now from Harlequin TEEN.

2.5 I am awfully curious as to why they released The Dark Discovery of Jack Dandy in July of 2013 after the May release of The Girl with the Iron Touch since this is a prequel to that story. It tells of events that transpired with Jack concerning a business deal and this lead directly to his interactions with Finley and Griffin in book three. While I appreciated the insight into Jack and all of his smexy-ness I kind of felt let down. We did learn a little about his past, what drives him and get a closer look into his home. I could listen to his accent all day and enjoyed the trip inside his head, but any climatic feelings or excitement about what happens next was completely washed out since I’ve already read book three. While I still recommend this to fans of “Jack” it really isn’t necessary and is very short, and I mean snippet short. I love this series, but compared to The Strange Case of Finley Jayne novella this was a disappointment.
