Grady Whill and the Templeton Codex is my first read from Carole P. Roman and I really enjoyed her style of writing. The book sucks you in from the first page and holds your attention.

Templeton, the school for superheroes, is the talk of the town. Entrance into this cool school with the secret location is everyone's overt or secret desire at Grady's school.

Grady thinks he has no chance and is happy for, yet jealous of his best friend Aarush, who gets in. As much as Grady wants to go there, his uncle won't even discuss why he is against Grady applying and getting in.

We get a taste of Indian culture with a look inside the family dynamics of Aarush's family via quotes from Ghandi, description of sari's, mouth watering food selections and even an explanation of the Bindi (the red dot on Gita's forehead).

Aarush being on the spectrum is done really well as we see him from Grady's point of view and we see their closeness in how Grady gets accepted to the school.

The themes of hope, friendship, family, bullying, autism, and ones innate desire to be someone special are intricately woven into this story. There is mystery and slightly sinister undertones as the characters grow along with the story.

I rated it 4.5 of 5 stars
