RIGHT NEXT DOOR was one of those books where the blurb grabbed my attention and the cover sold the me. But I can tell you I was pleasantly surprised by this one because the storyline didn't exactly take the turn I thought it was going to based on the blurb. Instead it was more angsty, emotional and thoroughly engrossing till the very end.

Addison Peacock is a woman who had been dealt a pretty crappy hand in life. Forced to stay in her hometown when her father became ill, her boyfriend offers a quickie marriage proposal and then hightails it out of town for five years. Addison is rightfully devastated, but she's downright broken when she's left to figure out a direction for her life after her father passes. And when she's finally feeling like things are back on track, ex-a-hole fiance comes strolling back into her life. But Addison is saved from a further downward spiral by her new neighbor, Damian Walker. He helps Addison pick herself up and fight for the fresh start she desperately needs, while worming his way past her defensive walls and into her heart.

Damian was a jumbled mess. He was hulking, alpha male who was determined to mark Addison so every male in the general area knew she was his. But he was also the biggest softie at his core. He wants someone to love him. He wants a family. And what he sees in Addison all points to forever. He tried to do the right thing by Addison and hold all his feelings in until he was sure how she felt, but he feels big and he just couldn't keep it to himself. But what I loved about Damian is he was willing to do what he had to do, no matter how much it killed him, to ensure Addison's happiness. He was that sure of their feelings and of them as a couple. It was refreshing while still being heartbreaking because you knew just how much it hurt him to do that.

As I said earlier, I was pleasantly surprised by this story and truly enjoyed it. It was an easy story to fall into, with characters who could definitely get your emotions engaged. This book has peaked my interest in AJ Pryor and I'll definitely be checking out her other titles.
