Ellen is an attorney who needs a change of direction. Burke is an officer with the Portland Mounted Patrol. A couple of accidental meetings (literally) and a meddling cousin bring them together. Add in a young girl named Mistletoe, a horse named Sugar Bear and a Border Collie named Lovey who performs some very clever tricks and you have a recipe for a Christmas tale that will warm your heart.
Ellen is best friends with Tara, who appeared in A Taste of Tara. Tara had a long-distance role in Saving Mistletoe. (If you haven't read A Taste of Tara, you should, but only because it is a great book. This book stands alone.)
I thought it was super fun that there is a reference in the book to Ellen reading a book that is not mentioned by name, nor is the author mentioned, but it is another Christmas story by Shanna Hatfield - The Cowboy's Christmas Plan. Though I didn't write a review for that book, I did give it 4 stars when I read it in January 2016.
The entire anthology is only $.99 right now. This story alone is worth the price and judging from the other authors in the collection, the entire set should be a very enjoyable read.
I voluntarily received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
