I enjoyed reading about Lucas and Jane, two very different people that shouldn’t have fit together. I must admit I prejudged Lucas as well, because he seemed like a bit of a playboy, but he was able to redeem himself. He was able to show his willingness to do the right thing, even if it killed him, and I respected him for it. He was able to move Jane past the wall she had formed following her husband’s death, and his interaction with Ella, Jane’s daughter, were priceless. I could not imagine being put in Jane’s position, but I admired her tenacity and fortitude despite everything going on. There were some parts that I felt could have been flushed out, but don't let that deter from the great book. All in all, Ms. Skiba was able to weave her modern day fairytale with enough twists and turns to keep it interesting.
