Inside Out: Horse is a new book in the Inside Out series of cutaway books for kids. Due out 15th Sept from Quarto on their becker&mayer! kids imprint, it's 16 pages and will be available in hardcover/boardbook format.
This is an interesting fact-filled book about horses based on real anatomy and physiology. The cutaway pictures show horses from the outside inward with each successive layer peeled away to show the interior features very much like "the visible human/frog/cat/pig" type dissection peel-away diagrams. The graphics are very well designed and detailed. The text, which is placed in highlighted sidebars on each page, is well written and understandable. The art is detailed and well rendered.
This would make a great gift for a young biology fan, or library (school or public) use. I noticed new details each time I looked at the interior pages. My educational background is heavy on biology and life sciences and I thought this small book was very very cool.
Four stars.
