Ax, a complete stranger, helps save Brooklyn from an extremely boring first date, which she seems to be a magnet for. After continually running into each other and spending time together, they realize they are extremely similar and that maybe their first date bad luck streaks could be over. While on their second date Ax’s brother and sister-in-law cause a fight between them that has Ax asking Brooklyn to give him a second chance to prove that he is not what his brother made him out to be. Baewatch is a romantic comedy filled with sun, sand and romantic waves which is told from the dual first-person point of view.
Baewatch is a very surfer friendly novel that will have you wanting to dig your toes in the sand. I found that the book to be a little bit chaotic at the beginning and slower in development than I am used to. The surf and nautical talk throughout the whole story did not bother me and kind of like the way Xavier Neal would use it instead of what some people would find to be “offensive language”. I am a lover of travel and the beach so this story made me want to go on vacation. I am looking forward to future Xavier Neal books.
