I was really captivated in the beginning of this book. Isa's cruel family and they way they shunned her just broke my heart. I was so elated for her, when she spent the summer with her cousin and grandmother. Being away from the negativity of her family, she was able to grow a little and gain a little confidence. I know, the later part of the book is setting us up for the next book, but I just was not as emotionally attached to those parts. Overall, I liked this book and want to see when Sorensen goes with the series.
