Our story begins on a mining planet that has been at war. Here we meet Claire, a talented psycher who was ripped from her mother at a tender age to train and battle in the bionet. When her faction loses the war she escapes by assuming the identity of her deceased mother. She is deported to Rada and manages to suppress her skill set despite probes. Things get interesting when she obtains a job as a personal assistant to Venturo, a kinsman leader and powerful psycher.

Andrews adds in some suspense when Claire agrees to help a young boy escape deportation.Time in the bionet was fascinating to how each psycher perceives it to deadly encounters.  The story was intense but also had a nice build up from chemistry to secrets. We get an update on characters from the first book and while this story wrapped up, I find myself eager for more of this world. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer
