When Dana is invited to Faerie by the Seelie Queen, Titania, to be officially presented at Court, it's no easy decision. After all, everyone knows Titania wants her dead. But Titania claims not to be the one behind the threats to Dana's life, and Dana's life would be a whole lot easier if Titania wasn't out to get her. Dana reluctantly accepts the invitation, hoping to strike a deal with Titania. But of course, in Faerie, nothing ever goes quite as planned...Dana's soon implicated in what appears to be an assassination attempt against Titania - an attempt that could only have been made by a Faeriewalker. Being the only known Faeriewalker, Dana is suddenly a fugitive, fleeing for her life from the Erlking and the Wild Hunt, forced to leave her father and her bodyguard, Finn, behind. Will Dana be able to prove her innocence - and unmask the other, hidden Faeriewalker - before the forces of the Seelie Court catch up with her? And will she find a way to save her father and Finn before they end up paying the ultimate price in her stead?
This book was great, and would have been 4.5 stars if the ending had been different... The trip into faerie was exciting, filled with scary creatures, Dana's doubt about who she could trust as well as some really great fighting scenes.
Dana was getting smarter in her dealings with the fae as well, so when she had to make some bargains, she really thought about what it would mean to her - for the rest of her life - before she agreed or disagreed to anything.
The final resolution was just too easy! Both what happened with the Erkling, and what happened after everything was over. It felt a little bit like a cop-out! Too bad, because I really, really enjoyed this series.
I am sure other people will simply be happy there was a happy ending, though, and I am too, however, I wish it hadn't been so 'easy' in the end.
