I received a copy of The Art of Modern Quilling through NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The Art of Modern Quilling was an absolutely fantastic read. I’ve always been fascinated by paper quilling, but to be honest I’ve also felt intimidated by it. This guide made the whole task of learning a lot less intimidating and more comfortable. And it had the added bonus of inspiring me at the same time.
While reading the instructions for some of the tutorials, I couldn’t help but think of how I could apply these basic skills to other projects and ideas. This is exactly what one hopes to get when reading an art book, so I couldn’t have been happier.
This book covers a little bit of everything you’ll need to get started on paper quilling. From the basics like the tools, how to seal your projects (this is paper we’re talking about – if you want them to last you have to seal them), different types of paper that can be used (and how they’ll look), and even how to make your own stripes of paper for quilling. The basics were even more useful than I expected.
From there the book went on to covering basic techniques in paper quilling. Each basic was shown with a lot of detail. I love that they made a point of showing how each technique could be applied to a project. It really helped put two and two together for me.
I can’t wait to get started on some of my own quilling projects now. I have so many different ideas to run with.
