Though somewhat lacking in tension plot-wise, The Grim Grotto has incorporated moral ambiguity in an understandable and interesting way. I feel like the quality of these later books is higher than the middle bunch of the series - the jokes wittier, the writing tighter, the themes more complex. And again, an ending that leaves me wanting to know what lies in store for the Baudelaires next...
