I knew this book was going to be a hard one to get through. Alina was in emotional turmoil and her emotions leak out of the book when you read it. But she was finally forced to face her feelings for Mal, say them out loud, and at the same time come to grips with what her role is in ending the Darklings rule.

Nicolai is a secondary character that I absolutely love. I was really torn over whether I wanted Alina to be with him or Mal. There was just something about Nicolai, whether he was a privateer or a prince, that encaptured you. I hope this isn't the last we see of Nicolai in the Grishaverse.
