"Submerged is romantic suspense that will keep you up at night!"--Bestselling Author Dee Henderson
A sabotaged plane. Two dead deep-water divers.
Yancey, Alaska was a quiet town...until the truth of what was hidden in the depths off the coast began to appear.
Bailey Craig vowed never to set foot in Yancey again. She has a past, and a reputation--and Yancey's a small town. She's returned to bury a loved one killed in the plane crash and is determined not to stay even an hour more than necessary. But then dark evidence emerges and Bailey's own expertise becomes invaluable for the case.
Cole McKenna can handle the deep-sea dives and helping the police recover evidence. He can even handle the fact that a murderer has settled in his town and doesn't appear to be moving on. But dealing with the reality of Bailey's reappearance is a tougher challenge. She broke his heart, but she is not the same girl who left Yancey. He let her down, but he's not the same guy she left behind. Can they move beyond the hurts of their pasts and find a future together?
Wanted to really like this one, but I had to push through to finish it. I couldn't connect with the main characters and ended up not liking them as much as I wanted to. There was just so much shame being used in this book from the secondary characters to the main love interest to the main character herself. It kind of turned my stomach with how the author seemed to shame her own character over the character's actions as a 16 year old. I also didn't appreciate how Bailey was called and seen as a whore (which some reviewers even called her 16-year-old self). Idk it just rubbed me the wrong way.
I've enjoyed Christian Romantic Suspense novels before (including one of this author's other series) but this one just didn't feel right to me. The suspense story was good, although the actual writing was a bit disjointed. Her other series was better so I'm assuming this one was an earlier novel of hers. I do want to read the next story because Piper and Landon held me more intrigued then Cole and Bailey, so I want to read their story. Hopefully it's better than this one.
