I've read other books set in times of revolution and the tone that some other reviewers are complaining about is very familiar to those.

I have no idea what people are talking about with the sex stuff. The one character who thinks they can take what is not theirs meets an appropriate end before acting on it.

It's a good read, it reminds me vaguely of The Master and Margarita. It's dark and sad and amusing.
