This was another great book in the series. I was grateful that I didn't have to wait long to start this story after finishing the first one. In this story, Allie has moved in with Collin. Things seem to be moving up for her. She finally has a safe place for her daughter, Bailey. Collin is willing to do anything to keep the two of them safe. The issue is that Collin isn't legal.

When Bailey's biological father shows back up, Collin is prepared to do whatever is necessary to keep Bailey with her mother. We also learn more about the events of Allie's past. Collin is still a large mystery. Between Allie's difficult past and Collin's secretive nature, it is easy to see why there are some trust issues.

Collin is also the subject of an investigation with the police department. When the police show up and start questioning Allie, she is in a tough spot. Between some information she receives from the police and Allie wanting to protect Collin. Her trust issues aren't just with Collin, but with pretty much everyone, including the police.

The love scenes between Allie and Collin are wonder. They are well written and passionate. The battle between meeting Allie's need for pain and Collin's need to pleasure wars throughout the scenes. You can really see how he wants to be tender, but also wants to give her what she needs.

I'm really loving this series. I will say that this reads more like a serial than a book of novellas. So you will want to be ready to read the first three books pretty close together. I haven't start the four, fifth and sixth books in the series yet. I'm betting they will read the same way with the story of Shelly.
