Jake treated Sera like a freak when her empathic "powers" got the best of her. Sera leaves to find out more about her ability and comes back to town two years later. Jake realizes he jumped the gun and wants Sera back. She has trouble trusting him and isn't sure if she truly believes his sudden turnaround. It's fairly predictable, with some flowery prose thrown in. A bit corny, but it was a fast read.
