I hadn’t read much of anything about Namor before he started appearing in the Avengers reboot. I knew about him, but since he never crossed paths with anything I was reading he didn’t really stick out in my memory as somebody important. Now I find him to be a compelling character, with admittedly hilarious interactions with the Avengers (I’ll never get over him calling She-Hulk ‘the pretty Hulk’). This issue did a great job of capturing just how proud and stubborn Namor is. I definitely didn’t know the depths of his determination before, but now I do. I’m not sure what the ramifications for what he just did will be, but I have a feeling we’re going to find out very soon.
