World War II is finally over and the people of Rosey Corner are busy welcoming the boys home. The Merritt sisters in particular are looking toward the future. Kate is eager to start a family and live out her dream of happily ever after with Jay. Evangeline wants a beautiful house and encourages Mike to pastor a big-town church. Victoria wants what can never be--a life with a man who will never come back. And little Lorena is growing up and wondering more and more about her birth family.
Through the heartfelt storytelling of bestselling author Ann Gabhart, readers join these endearing characters as they walk an uncertain road. Each sister must learn to hold her plans with a loose hand, trusting that God will guide and strengthen them as they share the joys and sorrows of life in their little corner of the world.
Ann has a way with a pen. I've said it before, and I'll say it again that war times are not my favorite time period to immerse myself into with a book. Yet there are certain authors that have a healthy mix of emotions to truly make reading and truly experiencing such a genre and time period worth while. Ann Gabhart knows how to write a historical that comes off the page and sticks in your heart.
Much like in Words Spoken True, Ann covers a concept that is difficult. Covering the view of the people 'back home' welcoming the veterans in their return as well as the war-worn soldiers back from the front lines for which the war really never ends. What I love about Ann's writing is how she causes my emotions to run the gambit. It doesn't matter what I was feeling before reading her books, afterwards I'm going to find I've had a varied experience.
While I didn't start this series in order, and each book truly stands alone, but it makes me want to go back and experience everything of Rosey Corner and it's generational stories.
