A Mutiny in Time by James Dashner

A Mutiny in Time (Infinity Ring, #1)

by James Dashner

History is broken, and three kids must travel back in time to set it right! When best friends Dak Smyth and Sera Froste stumble upon a secret of time travel - a hand-held device known as the Infinity Ring - they're swept up in a centuries-long secret war for the fate of mankind. Recruited by the Hystorians, a secret society that dates back to Aristotle, the kids learn that history has gone disastrously off course. Now it's up to Dak, Sera and teenage Hystorian-in-training Riq to travel back in time to fix the Great Breaks ...and to save Dak's missing parents while they're at it. First stop: Spain, 1492, where a sailor named Christopher Columbus is about to be thrown overboard in a deadly mutiny.

What a great new series from James Dashner (author of The Maze Runner trilogy).
Best friends Dak and Sera, break into the research lab of Dak's parents to see what "secret" project they have been working on. Sera, a science genius, takes the project, known as the Infinity Ring, and makes it work. The Infinity Ring, in essence, is a time machine.
When testing the Infinity Ring, Dak's parents disappear and Dak and Sera are recruited by The Hystorians,a group of people who's goal is to fix Breaks in time and set history to rights. But in the process they must outwit the "SQ" who are trying to control the world and prevent Dak and Sera from saving the world.
Their first assignment is to go back to 1492 and prevent a mutiny and make sure the right person gets credit for discovering America, and try and find Dak's parents lost somewhere in time.
I can't wait for the next installment of this new adventure series.
