Fire. The all consuming heat tends to destroy anything in it's path, leaving only devastation behind. That kind of devastation was all Wilder Kane knew. His parents parished to the flame and his job as a smoke jumper in Montana lead him to fighting them. It all changed when a jump went terribly wrong.

Quinn Higsby came home to Bridgewater to watch over the care of her ailing father and to slow her life down. She went from a Hollywood PR agent to a small town book shop assistant and never looked back. In one of the worst snow storms in the county history, Quinn gets stranded with her father at the town hermit's cabin, Wilder Kane.

This is the third book in the Bridgewater series, but the first one I've read. I didn't feel lost at all and was happy I could dig right in to the story of Wilder and Quinn. It was an unusual beginning for the duo and I wasn't sure how Ms. Riley was going to turn gruff and grumpy Wilder around. I love how Quinn's bright personality and frank nature brought out something in Wilder that no one ever could. I'm usually not one who likes Bad Boy stories, but Wilder really isn't a bad boy. He had a rough hand dealt to him at an early age and has now been dealt another blow. With Ms. Riley's development of Quinn and Wilder's almost clandestine relationship, I see her strength as a storyteller. The way she plays with heat and cold throughout the novel thrilled me. The hot scene in the cold atmosphere was one of my favorite love scenes I've read to date.

If Lia Riley's other novels are as hot as this one, I will be loading my bookshelf with them very soon.

Thanks so much to Lia Riley, Avon Impulse, and Tasty Book Tours for gifting me with a copy of Best Worst Mistake in exchange for an honest review.
