We’ll start with the conclusion of the love triangle. It’s actually decided pretty close to the beginning of Every Last Breath which caught me off guard! In a way, I’m glad it wasn’t dragged out. But it was also really sudden. When did Layla have time to make that decision with everything going on?! I can’t say if I was happy with her decision or not, because that would be a spoiler! I do wish there had been a little more build up and explanation as to why she chose him (other than he’s who the fans voted for).
The plot of Every Last Breath was fast paced as always, but I found that I wasn’t as hooked as the previous books. There’s a lot going on, but some of it felt really convenient. Not that it was necessarily easy for the characters, but more like “Of course that’s how it works!” kind of thing. If that makes sense. I wanted a bit more from it, because gargoyles and demons are an unusual pair so there maybe should have been more unusual circumstances.
In the end, Every Last Breath was a good ending. It was fun, entertaining, and even had some steamy scenes!
