Vendetta Road by Christine Feehan should be read with caution as it is a landmine of triggers. The story is dark and filled with the worst of human kind. Consider yourself warned.
Ice and his fellow Torpedo Ink members are hunting down a pedophile ring which has led them to Las Vegas. While there, Ice sees Soleil and knows instantly she is the one. Their romance is quick and dirty (seriously, this book is 5 flames for sure). Their sexy love story is woven between Soleil running from her ex-fiancee who wants to kill her, and Ice torturing some members of the pedophile ring. Ice's background (as well as the others in the club) is tragic and informs why they hunt pedophiles. The story is certainly dark due to the serious nature of the topics, but I was enthralled throughout because the mystery deepens regarding this ring of pedophiles. Vendetta Road has a touch of paranormal as well, as most/all of Feehan's stories do. The psychic abilities of the club members is fascinating and is just sort of a background to who they are; it doesn't define their character.
From Las Vegas and a quickie wedding back to the California coast, Vendetta Road delivers on the blood feud vengeance quest! Feehan does a wonderful job of deepening the characters and allowing the reader to understand the trauma of their past and how differently it affects them. Soleil could have easily been a flat character who was just naive and wealthy, a classic poor little rich girl, but Feehan doesn't leave us with that characterization. She manages to make Soleil both vulnerable and assertive. She and Ice are perfect for each other and Vendetta Road brings them the love story they deserve!
