Rochelle and Dex have know each other for years, since he was the drummer in her husband's band. But when she looses her husband, it's Dex who's there to comfort her when she most needs it. It's Dex who brings her tremendous passion that she later regrets. And it's Dex who plays in her nightly fantasy years later when she's stuck in being true to her dead husband and moving forward with her life.
Dex has his own set of demons he's trying to run away from. But it's always been Rochelle who's his beacon into the light. And when he finally finds the time to try and make what they feel for each other work, he sticks with going back to square one and making this work.
I loved the dynamic with Rochelle and Dex. The comfort they had with each other instantly made me feel comfortable with them, even when Rochelle was cloaked in grief. You could just instantly tell there was something different about the two of them than there was with the other members of the band. They both were able to force the other to look at their fear and deal with. Reclaim what had been lost in their lives and move forward.
It's not an easy road for Dex and Rochelle, but the bumps along the way give us Dex and Rochelle the strong foundation to the HEA they get at the end of the book.
