This book surpassed by expectations emotionally, and I loved it! I my heart ached for Laurie, when her partner of 18 years abruptly left her. This pain only got worse for me, as she learned the full story. The overall feel of this story is lighter, but I found myself hurting for her, and angry for her too.
Fake dating seemed like a great solution, as she had to continue to work with her ex, and was growing tired of their pity. My first meeting with Jamie was not impressive, but he really grew on me over time, and I loved him as a partner for Laurie. I felt like she was blossoming and becoming more of herself the longer their charade continued. And, heck, Jamie ended up being really sweet. I know there were many times I was grinning like a fool. I was not a huge fan of "the big conflict" that erupted, but it was a small thing in a sea of a plethora of wonderful. Absolutely loved this book!
