Addison finds herself at a tattoo convention in Vegas in the hopes of finally being able to talk to Rush. Back in high school, Addison broke not only Rush's heart, but also her own in an attempt to find someone, anyone who wanted her. She wanted out of the low income, foster family life that she had and at the time she didn't think her best friend/boyfriend, Rush, was the ticket out. She realized very quickly that Rush owned her heart and soul and has spent the past five years trying to talk to Rush and explain.
Rush has been running from Addison and the pain of her lying and leaving him. But when she makes her way onstage at the convention, Rush realizes that no matter how much he might tell himself he hates Addison for what she did to his heart, he would give anything to have her again.
I didn't have enough of Addison and Rush. The chemistry these two had practically melted my iPad screen. They were flipping hot, but they were also very much still fighting what happened in the past and the feelings that never went away. Rush, and rightly so, tried very hard to push Addison away and move on. But for the tough guy he liked to think he was, the moment he sees her he becomes and emotional mess that just wants the only girl he's ever loved. Addison is no different. She thought if she was able to apologize to Rush, she's be able to move on with her life...despite the fact that she did still love Rush. Of course, even after she's said her peace, she can't let go of him.
Laura Wright has set the stage for the Wicked Ink Chronicles and if the characters are going to be as hot and carry the emotional baggage that Rush had, I'm all for this series and can't wait for the first book. Definitely pick this one up. It's worth it.
