I cannot lie, I one-clicked this without reading the blurb, because I love Sayer Bennett. So, I went in totally blind. This was not what I expected, but I still liked it. Warning: the prologue is very painful, and I was an emotional mess after it. It's quite violent, but it's the only time in the whole book, and I think it was important to properly qualify Sela's motives.
I really loved Sela and Beck together. They were able to scale each other's walls, and latch onto pieces of the other's heart. Watching their relationship morph and become more is quite lovely. I hope Bennett gives these two a chance to be amazing together.
Again, I did not read the blurb, and expected this to be like the rest of Bennett's books - stand alone companion type books. Nope. This is actually a trilogy, and the cliffhanger is brutal.
