Witch Hat Atelier 11 by Kamome Shirahama

Witch Hat Atelier 11 (Witch Hat Atelier, #11)

by Kamome Shirahama

As the new trial comes to an end, one of Coco's rewards from Beldaruit the Wise is the story of Qifrey's past and how he came to desire the mysteries of magic. Feeling a connection with her own desire to save her mother, Coco departs for the source of all answers: the Tower of Tomes. But it is a perilous journey to make on her own, and the secrets held within could sway even the most virtuous of witches.

Summary:

Coco lives in a world where magic exists. Unfortunately, she's no magician. That's the one thing she's desperately wanted to be ever since she was a little girl. However, she has also been told that magicians are born, not made. Until one day, Coco sees something that changes her life. Now, she's a witch in training.

The festival is going strong, and it's finally time for the Silver Night Parade. The parade is famous as it allows magicians to perform their latest spells in front of the king and people. Coco hadn't planned on creating something for this event, but circumstances (and friendship) forced her hand.

Review:

I went into Witch Hat Atelier Vol. 11 feeling a bit conflicted. On the one hand, I'm eager to see where this arc goes! (Especially as the stakes are so high). But I was also a bit hesitant, as this is the last of Witch Hat Atelier until May (2024). I know it's not a huge wait, but still! I've gotten used to binging the series.

Anyway, it was well worth the read! It's dramatic and interesting. The cliffhanger from the last volume didn't go as expected, but that's probably for the best! It was nice seeing Coco and Agathe work together. It shows real growth on both of their parts.

That said, there's a dark undercurrent throughout this whole volume. Two, really. There's something so foreboding about the king/royalty set up in this world. Maybe I'm supposed to be feeling this way (probably). But it makes me anxious. Likewise, there's the whole reason Coco's in this mess to begin with. I have a bad feeling things will get very bad before they get cleaned up.

Now that I've finished Witch Hat Atelier Vol. 11, I have to deal with actually waiting in between volumes. Bummer!
