"Too much fear. Too much love. Too much of everything."
The Mirrorworld has ensnared my fragile heart!
I'm so in love with the Mirrorworld. It's dark, dangerous and deadly, but it's beautiful, homely and magical. Fearless showcases Funke's creativity and talent, from the depth of the Mirrorworld to the magical creatures and magical objects. Although much of the Mirrorworld has been explored in Reckless and Fearless, there's so much of potential for more exploration. The Mirrorworld exists within 'reality' and it seems like The Golden Yarn is going to explore the parallels and the influence of the Mirrorworld on the 'real world'. I'm so excited!
The storytelling and writing is wonderful. Fearless reads like a traditional fairytale story with a slightly dark twist. I love the atmosphere and tone of the Mirrorworld series. There are different plot lines and aspects, but they effortlessly come together to create a solid story. Fearless is also an extremely exciting read due to the surprises and plot twists.
The well-developed and interesting characters from Reckless show more complexity in Fearless. The main character, Jacob, becomes more sentimental, vulnerable and fearful because of his circumstances, while still trying to maintain his image and pride. My heart belongs to Fox though. Her bravery, loyalty and sincerity has won me over. I am also hoping that Jacob and Fox admit that they love each other.
Fearless deals with fear in all its forms - what is fear, what are the characters afraid of, what makes them fearful or fearless and how does fear affect their actions. Fearless also contains everything that I love: interesting and complex characters, a beautiful world, adventure, treasure hunting and amazing writing and storytelling.
I'm so excited to explore more of the Mirrorworld in The Golden Yarn.
