I'm from Galway and it was interesting to read how Galway women were in the 19th Century, a century that saw a lot of hardship and issues and you could see where some of the roots of change lie, and also where the well-meaning support started before becoming abuse, largely in an attempt to prevent abuse.

I found it interesting to see what people studied in my old school, how linen was a staple product and how Calcutta donated £24,000 to Galway in Famine relief.
