From the award-winning author of Princess Princess Ever After comes THE TEA DRAGON SOCIETY, the beloved and charming all-ages book that follows the story of Greta, a blacksmith apprentice, and the people she meets as she becomes entwined in the enchanting world of tea dragons. After discovering a lost tea dragon in the marketplace, Greta learns about the dying art form of tea dragon care-taking from the kind tea shop owners, Hesekiel and Erik. As she befriends them and their shy ward, Minette, Greta sees how the craft enriches their lives--and eventually her own.

Summary:

Greta is an apprentice blacksmith – and a talented one at that. Given that she was born into the trade, she has a unique appreciation for keeping dying arts alive. Perhaps this is why she was so drawn to the concept of tea dragons.

More likely, Greta's empathetic nature drew her to the art of tea dragon care. Now she'll dive into another dying art form, and in doing so, she'll make new friends and take on new responsibilities.

Review:

For years, I've heard nothing but praise for The Tea Dragon Society. While I hate that it took me this long to read it, I am thrilled that all that hype held up. The Tea Dragon Society (and the whole Tea Dragon series) is sooo worth the read.

In truth, I don't think it matters how young or old you are; there are parts of this story that will likely resonate. It's beautiful, complex, and so utterly human. Diving into this world is like getting a warm hug from your best friend.

You may have noticed that I said the whole series is worth reading. That's because I binged the whole Tea Dragon in one weekend. Yes, it was worth it. No, I don't have any regrets. Well, maybe one – I wish there were more.

I have to ask – given the success of adaptations like Nimona, do you think we'll ever see The Tea Dragon Society grace the small screen? I certainly hope so.
