CLAIMING THE ENEMY was the first book I've read in the Pulse series, but the blurb for the book intrigued me. Lauren Hawkeye is always good for steamy reads, so I figured I'd give it a try.

Ace and Piper definitely have chemistry and could cause third-degree burns from their smexiness. But there was something about this couple that had me scratching my head. Piper was down to earth, had a bit of a wild side, but worked hard to get where she was in the ER. Ace was the doctor in charge that had the uppity upbringing and snooty mother. So when Piper approached Ace and his mother and pretended to be with him, it left me wondering why she'd use her supervisor like that when they didn't seem to get along.

Unfortunately, sexy times weren't enough to save this short read for me. Yes, Piper and Ace were hot in the bedroom. But I found myself wonder what else could Piper possible see in this guy to want to continue on. Hotness can only get you so far, at least in my opinion.
