Leah is very sweet and down to earth. She has been burned by guys in the past so she refuses to settle or chase a man. She meets her new neighbor, Tyler, and there is instant attraction. But, she is going to wait for him to make a move. The angst is low for the most part-she has one douchebag ex who causes some issues, his mom is a bit rude-and I appreciated the focus on building a relationship. They are friends first and build some trust. Tyler has an adorable dog and Leah has a 'runner' cat and both pets add to the levity. There is also deep family bonds throughout the story. Leah is close with her family and that relationship is important to the story. Tyler doesn't live near his family, but they are a part of his life and play a role in the story.
Overall, Catching Him is a short and sweet read for those who want a straight forward romance. The angst is low, the characters are sweet, and the plot is engaging.
