Lightning in a Mirror is the third novel in Jayne Ann Krentz's Fogg Lake series. It's also the last of the series. I may have made a bit of a mistake here, as I didn't realize that it was part of a series until after I had started reading. That being said, I didn't have much of a problem getting into the story and enjoying the novel. Unfortunately, I did totally spoil the ending of the series for myself. So don't pull a me.
Say what you will about the dating world right now; Olivia LeClair could never have anticipated how her night of speed dating would go. In her defense, nobody is expecting a near miss on their life followed by a job off (of sorts).
Now would be a good time to mention that Olivia works for a psychic investigation firm that doesn't want her to turn down this job opportunity. So once again, she's putting life, limb, and love on the line.
I'm absolutely kicking myself for not realizing that Lightning in a Mirror was the third novel in a trilogy until after it started. However, I am far too stubborn to put this book down, and so I spoiled the conclusion for myself.
All things considered, this was an entertaining ride. I liked Olivia and the psychic investigation agency she worked for. That made for a really fun premise (and, once again, made me lament skipping the first two books).
Jayne Ann Krentz wrote a novel that fans of the whole series would certainly enjoy and appreciate – while still allowing goofy newbies like myself to dive in and follow along. That's always an impressive talent, so I want to give credit where credit is due.
If you love blending mystery and thrillers with romantic subplots, then I have a feeling you're going to love the entire Fogg Lake series. So go check it out!
