Since I read the fourth book first in this series (way to go me), I got to see Marcus and Lillian before their story. So I kind of knew things. THINGS! But it didn't affect my enjoyment of It Happened One Autumn.
So. This book. I enjoyed this one more than the first book. It had less of the drama (often unnecessary, at least to me) that I usually associate with Lisa Kleypas romances.
Lillian is headstrong and Marcus doesn't like her, but that's exactly what makes It Happened On Autumn so much fun. I do so love when two main characters dislike each other at the beginning. Makes for fun explosions. In this case, it starts with kisses in the bushes as they hide from people. And they still don't like each other.
See? Fun explosions.
A good portion of the book involves Lillian and Marcus fighting their attraction for each other. And there's the perfume stuff, which I thought would play a more important role considering the prologue. Still. Still. There were other THINGS happening that made the last part of this book less about what happens between Lillian and Marcus and more about OUTSIDE FACTORS. Which is good.
Also? Very curious about how what happens at the end of the book affects Devil in Winter. BECAUSE THINGS! AND OTHER STUFF! And that's all I can say.
