A house for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle

A house for Hermit Crab (World of Eric Carle) (Ready-To-Read: Level 2)

by Eric Carle

A modern-day fable based on the true habits of the hermit crab, this story also addresses the problem of growing up - "it's time to move", says Hermit Crab, "I've grown too big for this little shell". This picture book has colourful collage illustrations characteristic of the author, who is best known as the creator of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar".

This book was actually a lot better than I expected. Done in the same style as his 10 Little Rubber Ducks, the words are part of what make this one so great. Months of the year, growing and changing (a similar theme as [b:Little Bear's Little Boat|1673618|Little Bear's Little Boat|Eve Bunting|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1186667537s/1673618.jpg|1668632]). From my own childhood I remember wondering about ocean floor animals as I visited the beach when we were at my aunt's house and this would have been the perfect book for me at that time. I think I will have to look for this one to own, but until then my library does have a decent paperback copy.
