Proceed With Caution:
This book deals with dieting and weight loss.
The Basics:
Taste For Temptation is a delicious Contemporary Romance between Brandi, a woman who has given up chocolate and men to focus on her design career, and Adam, a multi-millionaire who gave up his lucrative career and inheritance to become a pastry chef.
My Thoughts:
I was worried about Taste For Temptation in the beginning, because Adam offers to help Brandi find backers for her business only if she breaks her diet to taste test for him. That felt very icky. There's nothing wrong with Brandi being a bigger woman (Adam likes that!), but there's also nothing wrong with her wanting to shed a few pounds. Yes, it's for vanity as her ex-fiance is the best man at her sister's upcoming wedding, but that's her choice. It's not fair of him to withhold help unless she derails her goals.
Fortunately, the story did not go that way. Brandi is a focused woman. She upped her training and adjusted her diet so that she could indulge a little bit. She didn't go off the rails and devour entire cakes. She sampled Adam's creations to help him perfect the recipes for an upcoming pastry competition. Maybe that angle won't work for some readers, but I'm all about balance. Brandi wasn't killing herself to be skinny, but she also wasn't going to give up on her personal goals for a man.
Okay, enough about that aspect of the story. Taste For Temptation has a sweet and steamy romance. Brandi and Adam suffer from lust at first sight, but they don't act on it! They have business to take care of, like I said. I enjoyed watching them help each other further their goals and support each other. Of course, they can't resist for long! There is a brief "break-up" because Adam has been hiding his identity, but it all works out in the end.
