Just a note, this cannot be read as a standalone, it's book 2 in theĀ All King's Men duet.
This one picks up right where book 1 ended and it was the cliffhanger of cliffhangers. And you jet set on this bit of suspense right from the beginning. It had my heart racing and honestly, I didn't expect a bit of this suspense at all. I guess you can say that you can see it coming, but I did wish I had more of it during this read.
As far as reads dealing with politics, they generally don't rank as my favorite. I know I'll definitely be in the minority with this one because as far as KR reads, this one wasn't my favorite.
It had nothing to do with the writing because it was phenomenal. I had a bit of a disconnect with the heroine, Lennix, and their relationship.
