Barbarian's Lady by Ruby Dixon

Barbarian's Lady (Ice Planet Barbarians, #13)

by Ruby Dixon

You'd think a tall woman would fit in on a planet of seven-foot-tall aliens, but even on the ice planet, I'm still a weirdo and an oddity. I'm everything all the other cute, dainty human women aren't.

One guy in particular - the alien Harrec - is determined to embarrass me by pretending he's interested. He's a jokester that flirts like mad and hits on me constantly just to make me feel foolish. He gets under my skin. He makes me so frustrated I want to scream.

When a side-trip to a glacier turns into a nightmare and the two of us are forced to survive alone, I see another side to the enticing blue alien. Even with no one else around, his compliments keep coming and I start wondering if the attraction between us... is real.

Proceed With Caution:

This book contains blood and discussions of human trafficking.

The Basics:

This is the thirteenth book of the series, and it would be helpful and encouraged to read the previous books. If you don't want to start at the beginning, start with Barbarian's Choice, since that's where this series of events begins.

My Thoughts:

I am continuing to enjoy this series a lot! Barbarian's Lady overlaps a bit with the ending of Barbarian's Redemption, as the new women are being escorted to the Elder's Cave to get the language upload. But Harrec convinces Kate to take a shortcut with him, and the two get separated from the group for several days. Unmated human and alien alone together in the middle of nowhere, what could possibly happen? A lot!

Barbarian's Lady starts with Kate feeling unsure of her place in the tribe. The men don't fawn over as they do with the other women. She feels like it's because she's so tall and broad, so they must not find her attractive or in need of protection. It doesn't help that Harrec is constantly teasing her about her appearance. But he's just the tribe goofball. He likes her! Hence, the plot to get them away from their group. It was sweet to see him convince her that his affections are real despite not resonating to her.

Of course, things have to happen while Harrec and Kate are alone to create danger and a sense of urgency between them. Kate also has to help him with a problem while he helps her accept his many compliments. The two are just super cute. They get their happy ending; it just takes a little longer. And then, there's a surprise ending! What are they doing here?!
