This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free for a Blog Tour in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Thank you to Rachel and Kim for my copy of this book and for letting me take part in this tour. I've been reading a lot of crime books recently so I was excited to go back to one of my favourite genres.
I really liked the main character, Nellie. Nellie has been through a lot in her life and the week we meet her she's about to go through a whole heap more. Nellie is a bright strong woman. At times she is a little naive and I did want to give her a little shake but she is an all-around good egg who I just wanted to be happy. I think I could be great friends with Nellie especially as, like me, she loves her food!
Nellie's childhood friend Jack is dreamy. I instantly fell for him. He's gorgeous, he's sweet and he's a vet! What more you could you ask for! It's obvious that the attraction they felt as teenagers is still there. Jack is kind and caring and I can see why Nellie fell for him.
I also loved Nellie's best friend Shivani. I loved that she was a straight talker and wasn't afraid to tell Nellie the truth. While others might try to make their friend happy Shivani is the friend that everyone needs. I'd love to see a book where she is the main character.
Kim does an excellent job of describing the location it really made me want to go visit Dorset. With its beautiful coast and that amazing beach hut! I'm ready to pack up my car and go right now!
This book is about more than falling in love. This is a book about finding who you are, what makes you happy and believing in yourself. Kim's writing is elegant and realistic. The characters emotions are so real, you can feel the pain, the anguish and of course the happiness.
