Shadow’s Legacy, the prequel to the Evenfall series, provided me with an interesting glimpse into the world of the Iron Fey. I never read the books from the Iron Fey series, but I had no difficulty following the events in Shadow’s Legacy. The author provided sufficient back story about the characters and the world of the Fey, which made it easy to follow the story.
The hero Keirran, struggles with guilt stemming from past acts of betrayal. A betrayal, which led to him being banished from Nevermore. Now he rules The Between, the world of the Forgotten. The Forgotten are Feys of the darkness. Meanwhile, in the human realm, his best friends are on the verge of getting married. His guilty conscience had him second guessing attending. However, as the best man he had no choice but to be present. Also not attending would mean incurring the wrath of his friends. Upon his arrival and prior to the start of the wedding, he found himself in an interesting situation created by Puck. In offering to help he came face to face with a dangerous assassin.
I enjoyed this short but exciting trip into the world of the Iron Fey. Now I am looking forward to reading the Iron Raven. Also I feel the need to read the books written prior to this new series. I can’t believe I passed up the opportunity to jump into this world years ago, but as they say, better late than never.
Puck and Nyx intrigued me, and learning they would be appearing in the Iron Raven had me all excited.
Overall, Shadow Legacy proved to be a wonderful introduction into this magical world for newbies. It is also a great way for fans of this world to catch up with their favourite characters.
