This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. OMG what a book! Not only did we have the murderer of the two girls to hunt down we also had the mystery of what really happened to Nikki's parents. This book had everything. It had suspense and mystery. It had the edge of your seat, heart-pounding moments. Moments that you do not see a way out of.
Nikki Hunt was an easy character to root for. She has been through hell and now she's not even sure if she remembers things correctly. Is she remembering what happened or what she was told happened? I really gelt for her throughout this book. She was a 16-year-old girl when her parents were murdered and she trusted the people who should have protected her. They should have done the right thing.
This book is extremely well written. It truly captivated me. I just could not put it down. It's gritty and brutal but it was also addictive! This is the first book by Stacy that I have read but it will not be the last. I honestly cannot wait for more books in this series!
Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via Netgalley and letting me take part in this tour. I love a good crime novel and this one is right up there with the greats.
