Mud and Glass is a rollicking adventure about academics gone wild! I've given it a solid three stars as an overall rating, but I'd say an easy four for the reader who a) has ever been a socially - and particularly romantically - awkward academic b) loves good clean action without too much graphic violence - think MacGyver but with a less hands-on geek girl as the heroine c) enjoys plenty of humour - Celeste and the cast of academics will make you laugh, and d) is a hopeless romantic and loves cutesy awkwardness...hmm, that's almost the first point again. This adventure is a lot of fun. The cutesy romance and academic jealousy were a little distracting at times from the mission at hand, but Celeste makes for an entertaining protagonist, unlikely in her cookie-munching, self-pitying ways, and yet she comes through victorious. In summary...A tongue-in-cheek, academic romp complete with goons shooting from helicopters, library ninjas, and almost some sex.
