I literally LOVED this, SO MUCH! It has amazing black representation and explores what it means to be a strong black woman, as well as black in general in today's world.
Everyone is their own person, and has their own way of embracing their culture—and embracing & loving yourself is invaluable!
This deals with some very real issues, such as death of a loved one, hate crimes, emotional abuse, bullying/trolling, etc. and there are some very hard calls made in this book.
But SLAY truly shines among a vast array of YA contemporaries with a UNIQUE, TALENTED, BLACK, BADASS & BEAUTIFUL MC & many amazing supporting characters as well!
