I pretty much hated the first 30% or so. It just irritated me. They fell in love instantly more or less and she was kind of childish and I don't know - something about it all rubbed me the wrong way. But once the novel got going, it was pretty good. I enjoyed the dialogue between Harriet and Gideon and most of the later events amused me. By the end, I found myself quite enjoying the story.
