I received an ARC through NetGalley.

Donna of the Dead is so much fun! From the first page to the last page, it's full of laughs, action, and a little romance. Plus lots and lots of zombies! When we first meet Donna, she's on a Thanksgiving cruise with her BFF, Deke, her father and his grandmother (they're dating, weird!). Back on the mainland a virus is quickly spreading through the human population causing them to bite others and eat their flesh. Unfortunately, one of the infected is on-board and soon everyone is the walking dead. Donna and Deke manage to escape, get back on dry land, and discover a few survivors taking shelter in their high school. Not exactly the relaxing vacation they were hoping for.

I really liked Donna. She's just a normal girl, except that she hears voices (or does she?). She's not the kick ass heroine who saves everyone from the zombies. In fact, Donna knows she's not particularly strong or fast, so she's the last to volunteer for dangerous missions. Self-preservation: she has it. She also has a huge crush on Liam, who may not be exactly what he seems. The twist in their relationship was a bit predictable, but I didn't care, since Donna of the Dead is so much fun.

Now, I want to go on a cruise, or try working on a cruise ship! Donna of the Dead just sucked me in and convinced me that a cruise ship is the place to be. Minus the zombies, of course. If the apocalypse hits, being isolated in the middle of the ocean is probably your best bet for survival...or a quick death.

In the end, I really liked Donna of the Dead. It's funny and exciting, even though the plot is predictable.
